COACHES and OFFICIALS and THE SEVENTIES: By Brian Zelley
Introduction
As we look back through the pages of the BC AMATEUR BOXING
NEWS there were hundreds of names of boxers, coaches and
officials that were part of the boxing scene between 1970 and 1979.
This will be a list of about 50 names of coaches and officials that
helped make things happen. From this partial list there are thousands
of stories that covered many decades of BC boxing history, and many
other names and events that are connected.
From this list of 50 or so names, we have
the start of many stories from the early days of
the newly re-established BCABA and the creation
of the CABA (Boxing Canada).
Many of the names will also link the decade to
the Sixties and the Eighties but in reality
some of the names takes us back to the Thirties
and to the current time period of 2011/2012.
